About Balanced Gaming

Work, life and fun in the age of computer games.

Welcome

Computer games are fun, exciting and entertaining.  In the last twenty years, computer and video games have become incredibly complex.  With the rise and success of massively multiplayer online worlds, people can literally live in another world, as another being, with an another identity, with other people participating in the same story .

I think many people enjoy these games responsibly. Many adults play video games  and many of them have a healthy relationship with these games.

However. There is something about computer and video games that we should be careful of. It is easy to hide from “real life” in these games. It is easy to become a little confused about real relationships versus virtual relationships. It is easy to think virtual world is real. It isn’t.

This site is dedicated to helping people find balance in their lives.  Can you play games and still have a healthy relationship with your peers, family, and others? Of course.

Now just be clear:

Gamers

I’m one of you. I’ve been playing computers since 1984 and I still enjoy computer games. I’m not saying that games are bad. I’m saying as gamers, we need to be careful about playing to much. How much is to much? That is up to you.  click here for my gameography.

Parents

I’m also one of you.  I have a daughter. I want to guide her and raise her well, so she is a balanced, participative member of society.  Computers and computer games are the Lingua Franca  of our kids.

This site is not about scaring you about the danger of computer games.
This site is not about telling you that video and computer games are perfectly fine, no matter how much your kid plays them.

This site is about finding balance.
